Sandy Meet Students: NYC Hurricane Relief Part II

It may be cold and dismal in November but our missions thermometer is smoking!  Well done entire CSF family!

We will be staying at a childrens ranch Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night and cleaning up homes.  Moving furniture and items to storage and prepping houses for repair.  We are scheduled to hit a community on Staten Island Monday to remedy some tree and debris situations there and possibly repair a generator.  Only indication of needs is gloves and basic tools which we already have from prior mission trips.  We will likely pick up some masks for the trip as well.

Sandy meet Students! NYC Hurricane Relief Trip Nov 16-20

We are headed to Long Island to do some work Saturday and Sunday and then to Staten Island Monday.  Communication is limited so we are unsure about what needs the communities we will be in have. We have partnered with a childrens facility for housing on Long Island that is organizing housing  and coordinating with local churches for actual needs and projects.  We will be in Staten Island monday to help a community there.

We are also in contact with a former WVU and former CSF person who lives close to the shore and is mobilizing needs, more on that to come but it looks like CSF may be mobilizing folks in Morgantown for his efforts there which I believe are geared towards folks with special needs.  This is a recent development and still in the works.

Great job to individuals, CSFer's, and churches supporting financially.  Well done, congratulate yourself for freeing us to plan logistics on short notice. Join them by finding the paypal button in the contact area of this website.  CSF is a non-for-profit organization so donations to CSF are tax deductible. We have 12 going and our goal now is $1,400 for gas, food, and supplies - including a generator engine for us to install/repair for a guy who blew his motor running his generator 24/7 to power multiple houses/needs/phones in his community in the chaos on Staten Island following the storm.  As of Wed folks have contributed $530 so it is well on the way.

Trip logo designed by our own Kerry Kunze!  Mission trip thermometer, complete with easy background formulaic updating of the amounts - done by freshmen Rachel Morgan!  Michael Morey has been instrumental in securing housing, meals, traveling options.  Rachel Gregory is working with WVU now to put this up on Mix and other WVU services.  Well done team CSF!

Current fundraising goal:

Home Cookin' Feastival

You're invited to the 1st Annual CSF Home Cookin' Feastival on Sunday, September 2nd!

Everyone can enjoy some home cookin' as the new semester at WVU is starting. To encourage all the new students in Morgantown, a feast will be held in their honor featuring all of the foods they left behind. Bring an all time favorite dish, your mama's prized recipe, or your favorite dish from your hometown.

Check out the Facebook event and feel free to invite any friends or incoming freshman that you know! If you want to bring something, check out the sign up sheet next to the CSF kitchen!

Also, try to bring food no later than 6:00p so that we can set everything up. We're starting dinner at 6:15p so we all have time to talk and catch up and not have Gary yelling for us to "get upstairs"

Back To School

Class is almost in session! This Friday, August 17th we will once again be helping WVU students move into the dorms surrounding CSF. Many CSFer's, and some out of town volunteers, will be coming to serve some of the incoming students (and their families). It will be a long, tiring day so please pray that we can keep the energy and enthusiasm going and hopefully make some new friends!

If you'd like to come help out, check out the Facebook event here.  We'll be having breakfast at 7:30am and begin moving around 8:00am. You can stop by anytime though; we can always use some fresh legs to step up and tag out a weary volunteer!
