J.D. Evans: AFTER 18 Intern Summer 2013

Now is the time for introductions! Greetings and  Salutations!  My name is J.D. Evans (on the right, in blue in above  picture) and I have the pleasure of serving CSF this summer as the  After18 Intern. I need to define a few things in that last sentence  before I can let you know about what I will accomplish this summer.  First off, who am I?  I am a CSF Alum and a WVU graduate from 2010.  As I  finished my Computer Science degree here in Morgantown, I heeded God’s  call for my life in ministry and began seminary studies at Emmanuel  Christian Seminary in Johnson City, TN.  I have always wanted to come  back and serve at CSF, the place that fostered me during my formative  Christian years, the place where my faith became my own.  And I am  fortunate enough to be able to share my love of Christ and of CSF with  high school students from all over the state this summer through  After18.

After18 is a CSF initiative that focuses on students  that are preparing to enter college. We at CSF understand that  maintaining Christian faith can be difficult some times, especially on a  secular campus.  But, we also know how CSF and the students that attend  there serve to be pillars of the faith during even the roughest times  in college, supporting each other through everything that might be  thrown our way.  That is the message, in a nutshell, that After18 is  trying to let high school students know across the state and beyond  through retreats and visits to congregations and youth groups. For  several weeks during the summer, CSF members and I will be travelling  around West Virginia and beyond to visit church camps and make  connections with students and churches.  I am excited to be able to be a  part of something that I love: camps and sharing my experience in  Christianity at a secular university.

Over the next several  weeks, there will be posts from me and other members of my camps teams  about our experiences and successes at camps in WV, OH, and VA.  Please  keep us in your prayers as we travel and reach high school students with  Christ’s Love for them.
